Dr Kate Chhatwal OBE

Dr Kate Chhatwal joined Challenge Partners as Chief Executive in February 2018.
Kate is passionate about education and social justice. Her belief in the ability of children and adults to develop themselves and others, and to transform the world around them, is at the heart of all she does.
Kate holds a PhD in education policy and has over 15 years’ experience of leading policies and programmes to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged children. Her recent roles include Executive Director at Southwark Teaching School Alliance and Chief Programme Officer at The Future Leaders Trust. Kate spent 11 years at the Department for Education, where she led the Labour government's flagship National Challenge Programme, among other high-profile policies and initiatives.
Kate is Trustee and Chair of Standards at STEP Academy Trust, and Co-Founder of the Leading Women's Alliance.
