Enhancing Leadership and Practice through Coaching

Since 2018. schools within the East Coast Hub have utilised coaching to enhance practice and leadership capacity and capability within their schools. A Sharing Leading Practice Event was held in November 2021 to outline the impacts of this approach and to explore how to create a coaching culture within schools. The main impacts were found to be:

  • Improved confidence, self-esteem and assertiveness
  • Enhanced leadership skills
  • Clearer vision and strategy
  • Greater resilience
  • Greater motivation and positivity
  • Enhanced well-being and work-life balance

A recording for the event is now available to watch here. For further information contact Ivor de Sousa (Leadership Coach and Managing Director of De Sousa Development Consultants Ltd): 07759-051754, ivordesousa@gmail.com

Edtech Demonstrator Programme

Following on from the success of the first year of the EdTech Demonstrator Programme, the Department for Education is continuing to provide this fully funded programme to schools and colleges up until April 2022. Its aim is to support any publicly funded school or college in England with access to free, peer-led, expert advice to support the effective use of technology in teaching and learning.  In doing so, educational technology can be embedded within the long-term strategic plans of those schools and colleges. This builds on the rapid progress made in the use of EdTech since Spring 2020 when over 4,000 schools benefited from tailored peer-led help.

Cheam Common Junior Academy, part of the LEO Academy Trust, is one of over 40 EdTech Demonstrator sites across England. Through this programme, they are able to provide bespoke support for schools and colleges throughout the Challenge Partners network. The programme is fully-funded by the Department for Education and can include strategic support with School Leadership Teams, staff training and CPD, procurement advice as well as technical audits, school visits and support with producing materials and resources. For more information with regards to this programme, please do not hesitate to email edtechsupport@leoacademytrust.co.uk or visit https://edtechdemo.ucst.uk/

"Having worked in partnership with Cheam Common Junior Academy and the LEO Academy Trust for a number of years, the development of their digital culture has been impressive and we have benefited greatly as a school.  High quality support and interaction has allowed us to quickly develop a coherent digital strategy for both school and home, that meets both our short-term and long-term goals. The training opportunities, at both a technical and pedagogical level, have led to high levels of engagement amongst staff and provided them with the confidence to broaden their knowledge and skills base." - Steve Trow, Headteacher, Earlsfield Primary School, Wandsworth
