We are sent a range of opportunities from our external partners and contacts. Here is our roundup for June.
Understanding employee engagement in schools – pilot opportunity to use the teacher engagement benchmark
For many school leaders the wellbeing, engagement and development of their teachers will be one of their first priorities. An increasing body of evidence suggests that teacher engagement - how engaged colleagues are in their teaching and their experience of school - can be a significant predictor of pupil outcomes as well as teachers' likelihood to remain in the profession.
As a result, we’re delighted to be working with ImpactEd to launch the Teacher Engagement Platform – a simple, digital tool that makes it easy to gather and act on engagement data from teachers. Currently in its pilot stage, we are now opening the opportunity for Challenge Partners school to trial the tool at no cost. Results will contribute to building a unique national dataset on teacher wellbeing, retention and satisfaction.
The only requirements to take part in the pilot are to circulate a 10-15 minute survey to teaching staff, and to share your feedback. In return, you will receive a report for your school analysing trends in your teacher engagement data, and comparing this against other schools nationally.

TeachingTimes: Helping Teachers Become Reflective and Research-Informed
“We would like our teachers to be reflective about their practice and informed about current research in teaching and learning and subject knowledge. But do we give them the tools to be so informed?”
The first step on the ladder of reflective practice must be to compare how your teaching stands up against the best in the country or internationally. TeachingTimes’ library of best practice allows for this self-assessment and exploration.
It also allows teachers to share their research and experimentation in class with their colleagues’ knowledge and expertise. And if they want to know more about how to assess the effectiveness of their teaching, there are articles and KnowledgeBanks – collections of articles and resources on a theme – to help you with this too.
Their mission is to support schools and MATs to become effective and reflective learning communities. If this appeals to you, you are not alone. Recent subscribers include Abingdon Secondary School, Harvard University, Plymouth University and the Warrington Primary Education Trust.
Challenge Partners schools who wish to subscribe to TeachingTimes will receive a special 25 per cent discount. It will cost you less than one day with a consultant to give your teachers a constantly updating set of best practice libraries and expertise, 24/7.
Recent and upcoming KnowledgeBanks include:
• Project-Based Learning
• Retrieval Practice
• Next Level Learning - Preparing students for life in a rapidly changing technological and environmental context. Led by Tina Grotzer of Harvard University
